Failte" (“Welcome”) from the Lincoln Irish Dancers! Our mission is “to heighten awareness and appreciation of traditional Irish dance, and to celebrate Irish culture” here in Lincoln, Nebraska and surrounding areas. Our group became a non-profit organization in March of 1997. Lincoln Irish Dancers perform locally and regionally several times each year, sponsor a public ceili, dance classes and workshops, and hold a recital and our own social events. We originated as a ceili (KAY-lee) dance group, but have grown to include step dancing, set dancing and sean nos (literally, "old style") Irish dancing. All represent styles of traditional Irish dancing. We enjoy performing publicly, and just dancing together for the fun of it! Lincoln Irish Dancers comprise people of all ages and backgrounds. We were honored to be the 2005 winner of the Mayor's Arts Award for Cultural Celebration, presented by the Lincoln Arts Council. In 2007, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary with a special production, "Wild Irish Thyme," and several members and their families and friends toured Ireland as part of the anniversary celebration.
